On October 27, 2022, Pastor Greg Locke posted on his Facebook feed that YouTube had permanently removed Global Vision Bible Church’s channel. The reason stated was, “We have reviewed your content and found severe or repeated violations of our Community Guidelines.”
YouTube deletes church and pastor’s private accounts!
Pastor Locke has not received favorable coverage by mainstream media. Locke initially moved into the limelight for his Biblical views as well as his political views and affiliations. The comments on his posts range from love to extreme hate.
A November 15 Facebook post reported that YouTube completely removed his personal YouTube account, which included 800 videos and 105,000 subscribers.
The Church Focus on Power and Freedom
Over the last year, there has been a noticeable difference in Pastor Greg Locke’s posts and preaching. His church preaches and demonstrates the power of the gospel to save, heal, and deliver. During the Forerunner Conference hosted by The Supernatural Life on November 19, 2002, Locke said the backlash he has gotten for doing deliverance and declaring the power of the gospel has been far more significant than what he experienced from his political stand.
Community Guideline Prejudice
The consequences for violating YouTube policies seem to vary. For example, some YouTube channels regularly use offensive religious terms, have pornographic scenes, and use course language.
According to Forbes Magazine, the Youtuber known as PewDiePie released nine videos in 2017 containing anti-Semitic or Nazi imagery. He was removed from YouTube’s Red platform and the Google Preferred program. However, he was not exiled from his community and continues to make millions from YouTube ads alone.
WealthyGorilla.com reports, “As of November 2022, PewDiePie’s net worth is estimated to be $40 Million. He’s also the most subscribed-to channel on YouTube. His gaming videos on YouTube have helped him to become a gaming personality.”
PewDiePie’s course language, and uses of taking God’s name in vain can be heard regularly on his channel. When compared to Pastor Greg Locke’s removal from YouTube, it does appear that there is some bias.
Vulgar language policy
The following is an excerpt from YouTube’s community guidelines:
“Some language may not be appropriate for viewers under 18. We may consider the following factors when deciding whether to age-restrict, remove content, or issue a strike on the channel.
- Use of sexually explicit language or narratives
- Use of excessive profanity in your video
- Use of heavy profanity or sexually suggestive terms in your video’s title, thumbnail, or associated metadata
- Use of excessive sexual sounds
Note: The above list isn’t complete.”
Locke’s Determination to not accept Defeat
Pastor Greg Locke has not apologized to the public or compromised on his position. If anything, the deletions seem to have fueled his resolve to not cower down to cancel culture. The following video was released on November 8th!
