How long for a miracle? 5 Healing Timings

After 22 years of being confined to a wheelchair, Delia Knox stood up and walked! Knox confessed later that had she known she was attending a healing service, she likely would not have gone. She had experienced over two decades of disappointment and mishandling. However, one service in Alabama would change everything!

“It’s not about the healing, it’s about the journey in knowing God is there for us.” –

Delia Knox (700 Club interview)

Unfortunately, when the healing does not take place right away, it can begin to feel like the miracle will never happen. There are at least 5 timings in scripture where Jesus healed people.

1. Healing Time: Immediately

Immediate healing is the #1 favorite way to be healed! With immediate healing, all pain stops, all financial drain ceases, and the healed are ready to move on and take over the world!

Instantaneous healing is wonderful to watch and experience! However, if it doesn’t happen so quickly, that doesn’t mean it will not!

Matthew 8:3 “Immediately his leprosy was cleansed”

Luke 8:44 “Immediately her bleeding stopped”

2. Healing time: As They Went

Leprosy was a skin disease that no one in the middle east wanted to contract. Those who were well were not supposed to associate with a leper! However, when leprous ten guys asked Jesus to have mercy on them, He did not reach out and say, “Be healed!” He told them to go to the priest to show themselves clean even though they weren’t yet manifesting the healing.

Fortunately, the miracle was in the the obedience. As the lepers did as they were told, they were cleansed. Wow! Sometimes, we need to hear the voice of the Lord and just go the way He says to go!

Luke 17:14 “And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.”

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

3. Healing time: That Hour

Some translations to Matthew 17;18 read that he was healed that moment, instantly, or from that hour. Whatever the time, whether it was the very moment or within the hour, that is some fast healing! Jesus is well able to do it!

Matthew 17:18 “Cured from that very hour”

4. Healing time: 2nd Time Around

The second time around healing is likely the most controversial way that He heals. Jesus had already prayed for a man when the man confessed that he could see better but that people looked like trees walking around. It is not faithless to pray again! Jesus prayed a second time with successful results!

Mark 8:22-25 “Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.”

5. After Obedient/time

Can Jesus heal immediately? Yes. Can He heal quickly? Yes. Does He want to heal? Absolutely, part of His identity is our healer! Why doesn’t it always happen quickly? I don’t know. But, what is true is that His ways are greater than ours.

John records a healing where Jesus made clay out of dirt and spit. He put the mixture on a blind man’s eyes and told the blind man to go wash. How is a blind man going to figure out where the pool of Siloam is? Wouldn’t it have been easier to just open the eyes of the blind man? Maybe it would have. But, that wasn’t the method. The man obeyed and his healing followed!

God isn’t playing with us. He wants to heal. In addition, He knows the best healing time and He knows how to grow us in the process of seeking Him.

John 9:6-7 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. KJV

Healing & Deliverance

Sometimes, in addition to healing, we need deliverance! For 18 years, a woman had suffered from a spirit of infirmity according to Luke 13. Jesus set her free and healed her! In order to experience healing to fullness, we must connect ourselves with Jesus Christ.

In conclusion, our timing is not God’s timing, but we can stand on the truth that He is well able, He wants to heal, and He receives Glory when sickness goes and His people are whole. From this place of trust, we can trust, hope, and believe for the healing of our loved ones and for ourselves.
